Prison

The Brahma Kumaris Raja Yoga Centre in Trinidad and Tobago provides services to prison inmates on a weekly basis. Whilst aiming to reinforce the practice of values such as peace and forgiveness to inmates and sustain their long-term spiritual needs, the specific objectives are twofold:-
•    To reduce the occurrence of periodic violent behaviour among inmates.
•    To instil a system of values and independence that will help inmates to rehabilitate in society in a responsible manner, upon their eventual release.
The concept of introducing the spiritual dimension in the form of Raja Yoga philosophy is well known in T&T. The first objective has seen gradual success while the second longer term objective and involves the regular practice of these spiritual principles in order to transform the person. By developing the person to the extent that he realizes the intrinsic power and virtue of every human being and the possibility of achieving complete fulfillment of the inner being.
